With a cabin on order, and in preparation for that, I ordered some of the Carefree Protectant Timber Treatment for a new fence. Having previously painted gates and fences with standard fence paint, I used a sprayer to apply this to the fence and it went on brilliantly in a very short space of time. Neighbours couldn’t believe how quickly it could be applied and the finish is excellent. Looking forward to receiving our cabin and painting it with more of this treatment. Highly recommended.

Having seen the quality difference between the carefree timber treatment and another I can honestly say how impressed I have been at how the wood still looks compared to the wood painted by another brand. Whilst it is expensive I would consider purchasing it again.

I am delighted with the two 2.5 litre tins of Carefree Protectant Timber treatment. It was very easy to put on although being clear, I had to concentrate on where I had painted!! My Bo Cabin looks great and after two coats and I still have enough to do a third. Another great benefit for me was the free delivery. Living in the far North of Scotland we usually have to pay over the odds for delivery. From the order, to the lovely delivery driver, who was very knowledgeable about the North of Scotland, Tuin has given me first class service and I would have no problem recommending them to anyone.

Carefree protectant Timber Treatment- fantastic paint lovely colour for summer house more a green sage colour rather than a slate grey. We have had alot of compliments and really easy to apply and a little goes a long way.

Expensive but there is a reason for that as it is a top quality product

We ordered the Carefree protectant for timber in 'Anthracite' for our new cabin. After 4 coats it looks absolutely fantastic - modern and yet perfectly at home in our wildlife friendly garden, plus is beautifully waterproof. And boy it has had some testing weather to contend with recently! We could not be happier that we made the investment, not just in our Tuin cabin, but also in this top quality product. One point though, we did not need the 7 cans predicted for our Philip cabin. I would start with 4 - you can always get more if needs be and they can be bought singly if you phone Tuin, rather than ordering online. Highly recommended

Great Product! We bought a whole Log Cabin from Tuin and was very easy to find the correct and perfect timber treatment from the same company. Thank you for the quality products and easy of use.

Great product. Went on easily and brush washes out in water. Went a long way too. Used it in a bathroom and so far so good! Everything from Tuin has been high quality.

After investing all the time, effort and money building our log cabin I wanted to make sure it’s protected properly. This paint does go on very thinly and does take a few coats to build it up, but the end results are fantastic. It’s also piece of mind to know it’s the right paint for the right job. Expensive but hopefully worth it.

Excellent product, goes on really easy. Applied the 3 coats recommended but only used 60% of the paint quantity advised.

Bought this to seal and protect our log cabin. Applied two coats at time of build with a 3rd coat just before Autumn. Good product, easy to apply and works a treat :-)

There’s an old saying you get what you pay for! This is expensive but you can see the quality after the 1st coat! It doesn’t drip like cheaper products and the finish looks superb! Only time will tell if it performs as it should but I’m sure Tuin wouldn’t sell or recommend it if it didn’t!. In my view it’s worth every penny!

This paint is probably the most expensive external wood paint you’ve ever bought, but don’t be put off. As soon as you apply two coats you can tell the quality of this product. We applied it to our new Dellinger cabin, and as we spent so much on that, we thought we’d better protect it well. We weren’t disappointed.! The black goes on much easier than the white, nevertheless this goes a long way. We used two 2.5 litre pots of white to give the cabin 2-3 coats all over. We used black on the barge boards, doors and windows and used two 1 litre pots for this. Very happy so far but only time will tell. Be bold and go for it.

This the very best. used it on the cabin when I built it 2 years ago and it still looks great. Will be retreating next spring but not sure it will need it. A bit pricey but very well with it.

This paint is really good. It goes on easily and covers really well. I know the instructions say to use it with a brush but I used a small gloss roller and it made the job really quick. The gloss roller edge was ever able to get between the logs.
The only thing I would say is use a stirrer and really mix the paint well before you use it. The bottom is quite thick and clumpy and needs to be mixed well.

The timber treatment is really easy to apply and dries quickly. Excellent protection for our cabin, we managed to get all parts covered before all the rain arrived!

I bought 5 x 2.5l tins to do my Tane cabin. Three outside coats and two inside. Still got 1/2 tin left to do windows and doors again. Easy to apply, I have the clear, which you can see what you’ve done if doing it carefully. As others have said, I have put a lot of time, money and effort into the cabin, so decided to make sure it looks it’s best, with the best treatment!

Tuin Carefree Protectant clear timber treatment is good quality and easy to apply but very expensive (10 litres at £311 – enough for 3 external & 1 internal coats of Justine log cabin). Courier delivered cans badly dented.

I had some reservations when purchasing this paint for the inside (white)and outside (concrete grey) of my cabin, due mainly to the cost of it. I thought paint is paint, why so expensive?
Well, once you understand why and what you are trying to do to prolong the life and longevity of you precious new build, then its a No-Brainer not to use this well recommended and exceedingly good paint.
I was well impressed with the coverage it gave, and I painted every piece of the cabin 3 times each (inside and out, and every tongue and groove, and even the roof panels - even though I've insulated above and below), before putting it up.
I did however underestimate how much I would actually use, and had to order another 2 x 2ltr, on top of the 4 initially purchased. I'll also be using it for future re-coats, no worries!

I bought 3 x 2&1/2 litre tins of this to cover my Emma corner cabin. I’ve only used one tin so far and it covered the full exterior which is 3x3 meters plus the edges of the concrete base and is already water resistant but not waterproof yet as another 2 coats are needed once the weather improves a little. The treatment went on really good and because I’d purchased the pine colour it was easy to see whilst staining . I think that as always you get what you pay for and so far so good.

I did a lot if research on wood treatment and Carefree Protectant received fantastic reviews. Although expensive, I figured it would be worth it and it hasn't disappointed. Easy to apply and clean brushes as it is a water based solution. Dries so quickly as well. Would thoroughly recommend.
Jul 23, 2020
This paint is easy to apply and dries fast. The clear colour has a slight pink tint before it dries making it easier to see where you have applied but you should apply this quite liberally particularly in the joints were it can be harder to see if you have covered everything. The grey colour is very easy to apply as has a great coverage and colour after two coats (we had previously painted with clear protect so this maybe different if you’re painting on ‘fresh’ wood). The paint also doesn’t completely compromise the lovely natural wood grain texture which is great. I found the white paint quite translusent and needing more coats before having good coverage and colour. All of these paints need to be stirred more than your average paint particularly if you’re using coloured paint to ensure that the colour has properly mixed and the paint achieves the right thickness.
If you’re planning on getting the clear colour and your cabin is in a sunny spot, I would recommend applying a good number of liberal coats (at least 4-5) immediately after the cabin has been built particularly on the sides that are facing the sun. With less than this you’re likely to get sun damage after a few years which is hard and potentially costly to reverse.
Once enough paint has been applied you can see water just running off the surface.
The only downside is the price but I would say that if you protect your cabin properly from the start it’s worth it in the long run.

Quality of stain is excellent. I used one 2.5L tin to provide exactly the right coverage for One coat of a 2.9m x 2.9m Jorgen Pent Cabin.

However the “Light Oak” Colour has actually come up a garish, bright orange which has caused quite a few comments by neighbours and to be honest is really quite ugly.

I have had to now buy a paint to cover it up which I really didn’t want to do.

Credit to Tuin customer service team though, they have been helpful in organising a refund (but it’s still left me out of pocket through returning the product and meant that I’m going to have to now cover up the lovely wood effect of the cabin)

5 stars for the quality of the product and Tuin customer service

1 star for the horrible orange colour of the “Light Oak”
Mr. David Riley
May 26, 2020
Seems good stuff but of course only time will tell. Got a decent colour with 2 coats of Concrete Grey and the third coat didn't make much difference. The white though definitely needed 3 coats and might need a fourth. The coverage rates stated are very accurate, I got more than they quote.

The tins need a really good shake before using and you can get a thicker layer at the bottom of the tin. For the Concrete Grey, this resulted in a bluer shade in places during the second coat so when the next tin was about half empty gave it a stir as the shaking didn't shift it.
May 9, 2020
I purchased the timber treatment along with my cabin and have now painted the outside white with grey doors it looks very attractive.

The treatment went on easily it is runny and you have to put on a,number of coats but I think it will protect my cabin for a good view years and it looks very attractive
Mr. Rod Goodman
Mar 31, 2020
Did exactly what it said on the tin - covered excellently and gave us the finish we required. Only awkward bit was initial purchase where we wanted just one tin for the doors and windows but could not purchase it off the web page as there is a minimum purchase of two items, therefore had to contact Tuin directly, and was only able to buy 1 tin because I'd purchased other items previously.
Mr. Michael Kimbriel
Feb 27, 2020
I bought the Light Oak since it's the lightest color, and for an exterior acrylic water based stain it turned out to be very high quality. Stir it well, and apply two coats and it will last you a long time in deed.

Pretty good stuff as far as I can see, used it the afternoon after the cabin went up, managed to get on two coats before the heavens opened. Will put on another coat or two before we paint it.....trouble is I can’t decide what colour. The rain hasn’t penetrated at all so must be good!
Mr. Alan Hampson
Feb 12, 2020
I was advised by the technical support of a rival company that wood preservative couldn’t be applied until April onwards when the weather is warmer. I came up with a solution of applying it in a spare room which was warmer, they agreed this was viable as long as I had fresh air flow. Whilst this was time consuming applying the Carefree treatment to each individual piece of timber it’ was worth it. It’s still winter time but rain just runs off the cabin, it’s a brilliant product. When the weather gets warmer I,ll apply the recommended number of coats. Whilst it’s not cheap, I advise anyone not to scrimp on quality

Ordered the carefree product on recommendation from Tuin
The product is easy to apply and brings up a lovely colour to the wood, using the clear product.
Only time will tell how good the product is. It is obviously very expensive so my expectations are high!

Was impressed with product, compared to other paint products available in the UK. Although double the price of general coating systems it felt good value for money. In a couple of the cans the pigment had dropped out of suspension to the bottom of the can and required significant stirring to get it back into suspension - would recommend that as well as shaking all cans that stirring is essential to make sure all the pigment is in suspension prior coating. A primer system might improve the overall coating system. Time will tell.

Used the clear version on a new stable (not Tuin) but 2 coats not enough - very weathered after 2 winters. Without pigment, the clear version needs the 4 plus coats recommended and arguably the wood needs to be less than perfectly sanded as this inhibits absorption. Currently painting a Tuin garage with the dark green - seems much tougher after 2 coats and a 3rd should be enough and looks good.

I'm not sure how i feel about this treatment, I have given it 5 starts but it was bloomin expensive! I guess time will tell, I've nothing to compare against.

We've stuck 4 coats on the out side and 2 on the inside, we were told that we needed 9 cans but have actually only used 6. If you're watching the pennies then order less cans and see how far it goes and order again if required. I can't see you needing more than 6-7, we are now treating garden furniture, gates etc.

It goes on well, hopefully we wont need to touch the cabin again for a few years which will make it worth the while and investment.

The cabin stays relatively dry given the overhang of the roof. Where i can see the treatment works is on our garden furniture, the rain water just sits on the top of the furniture (rather than being absorbed)

The cabins are great value, so you may as well account for treating it properly too.

I did a lot of research on the clear varnish as it was very, very expensive but decided to use Carefree based on the fact that the drying time (15-20 minutes, depending on the weather) is far quicker than any other available products. In fact Sadolins (much cheaper) stated it was 18 to 20 hours drying time after one coat then you were recommended to lightly sand the surface before applying the next coat for the best effect. Well, this is all very but to apply 3 coats of varnish & sand in between each coat as well as contending with the English rain, this would take well over 3 weeks to varnish my cabin. Not an option when you are working, running a household & taxi-ing a child to all their activities. So, based on the time element I bought Carefree & am extremely pleased with the result. I would highly recommend it & it is well worth it's high price as it certainly does a good job & looks really classy. For those of you who have trouble working out the quantities they require, I bought 4 x 2.5L tins to cover a Daisy log Cabin 3.5m x 2.5m & after a very liberal first coat which used 1 tin & a quarter of the second one (the wood sucks up the first coat), I am now about to open my last tin with only the long back wall & front of the cabin to coat for it's third coat. This also includes that I have already painted the inside walls, ceiling & floor of the cabin. So, that should give you an idea of the area that Carefree covers & I would thoroughly recommend it to everyone for ease & quickness of use.

Like most of the reviews I thought this was expensive but very glad I bought it. I painted the main body of my Riina Log Cabin concrete grey and the windows and doors white. I thought it was quite thin to begin with but once I gave it a good stir it did thicken slightly. I painted 3 coats of the grey and as the white is quite translucent used 6 coats to get a good coverage. As I have a lot of white left I’m going to paint in inside walls to give extra protection. I am really pleased with the result and can’t see it will need to be repainted for many years. Also excellent service from Tuin ordered on a Monday and arrived Tuesday morning.

This product is recommended for the treatment of cabins, it is not cheap, however it does go a long way and the results were very good, other well known treatments do not give as good a finish, I have used other good quality products, but without the finish, well worth the investment if your going to do it right.

We bought a TUIN summer house (Daniel Corner), which is a great product in itself. The pressure treated timber is supposed to withstand the elements, but we want to give the timber some long-term protection and to add colours. Having researched on the most effective timber treatment products to get, I narrowed down the choice to the Carefree Protectant and OSMO Country Colour range. While the colour palette is smaller than Osmo, I chose Carefree Protectant because it is water-based, quick to dry, and as I understand, the protection fluid with fungicide etc is soaked into the wood, as distinct from OSMO oil range, which stays on top of the wood surface and does not contain preservative chemicals such as fungicide. The water-based property of Carefree Protectant makes it easy to apply and the brushes and rollers are easy to clean. The summer house is painted 'Concrete Grey' with windows and door in 'White' from the colour palette.

I have recently coated my newly built log cabin with Carefree Clear Wood Protection. Although this product is expensive, it goes on really easily - like water, forms an impervious but transparent film that both enhance the grain of the wood is “soft” and smooth to touch. A quality product.

I have used the white Carefree Protect Timber Treatment as a contrast for the windows, doors and soffits alongside the
concrete grey as the main colour of our Laula log cabin.
This make the effect very pleasing on the eye. I am extremely please with the protection the treatment has given to the outside of the cabin.
The paint is easy to use and goes a long way.
The 4.3x4.3 cabin took two & half tins, of the 2.5L grey and it has has 3 coates all round as recommended by tuin.
The white has needed just over one tin of 2.5L for all the fiddley smaller areas of windows etc. So although it has a cost of £71 per 2.5L tin I have found it to be of excellent quality.
We are at the wrong time of year now for much painting so the inside will have to wait for spring.

Oct 29, 2019
This is a the best and greatest timber treatment for your log cabin.
Yes its pricey but well worth the extra expense.
It goes on very easy with brush and a little goes along way.
I bought four tins of clear only to use 3 for the Jos corner cabin. The cabin was given four coats.
I plan to use the other tin for planters that my wife made with the wood that was left from building the cabin.
I used a paint mixer that goes on a drill to stir things up. If you do use this method give the paint some time to settle because it froths up.
Painted with a brush and it gives the cabin a lovely natural shine.

I've never paid this much for external paint...I've always used the 'high street' names, so was a bit unsure of how good this would be. I needn't have worried as this stuff is absolutely top dog! Brilliant stuff, goes on very easily, good coverage and brushes are just water cleaned. Put several coats on...the more the better imo. I had 5l and used it on a Britt Log Cabin (2.8 x 2.5m) outside only. Will be ordering more for the inside and for annual touch up.
Sep 23, 2019
Expensive but application was easy and the cabin looks great (in white). We used 3 coats as recommended and this looks like it would provide superior protection. Time will tell. Overall very happy with the product
Mr. Stewart Maclean
Sep 7, 2019
ordered 3 x 1ltr of the Carefree Protectant Timber Treatment thinking this may not be enough to complete the outside of the cabin. This actually was enough to complete two coats of the outside and around the inside frame of the doors and windows. Very good product.

Sep 2, 2019
Excellent product easy to apply and quick drying. Only reason for four stars is it wasn't quite the colour I expected, hopefully it will mellow a little. Otherwise no complaints.
Jul 17, 2019
Having bought the Clocktower cabin i bought the recommended timber treatment and was NOT dissapointed its a great product goes on easy and keeps the water off my new cabin, quite expensive but well worth it would defo recommend this product.
Mr. craig newton
Jul 2, 2019
This is an outstanding product. It’s not the cheapest by any means but you really do get what you pay for - the quality of protection is obvious once it dries and water just beads and slides off. The clear darkens the wood slightly and really brings out the grain. Looks fab on my Perlund cabin.
Mrs. Ruth Lagden
Jun 28, 2019
What a brilliant product, may seem pricey but leaves an almost plastic coating on the wood ,do ensure you stir well or it can seem watery though, hasn’t had much testing by the weather yet but I’m convinced it will work admirably, once again thank you Tuin, rest assured I have been recommending your products to anyone who will listen.
Mr. Brian Cooke
May 15, 2019
A great product and seems to protect very well. Goes a lot further than the instructions say and although expensive far far better than shop brought products and well worth the extra

The Carefree Protectant is easy to apply and seems to give good penetration and coverage. Time will tell how long it lasts.
Mr. Bruce Hatton
Mar 16, 2019
The treatment is recommended by Tuin but seems expensive, I chose another product which didn’t work very well. So I ordered the Carefree treatment and applied it to the weather side of the cabin. Water does bead and run off, so it’s expensive but it is good.
Steven Gillmore
Feb 14, 2019
Although a tad pricey it's well worth the investment. I've given my Emma cabin 3 coats of the light oak so far, looks better after every coat! I'd recommend plenty if dust sheets down and also to paint evenly and watch out for runs/drips down the timber as once it sinks in it's there for good.
Allow yourself plenty if time per coat don't think it's a 5 min job.
5/5 for the carefree light oak.
Mr. Saxon Gilbert
Feb 4, 2019
Time will tell bit this seems like a great product. The green is nice and dark. 2 tins just about covered the cabin with 2 coats 14ft x 9ft.
Delivery was very fast and efficient.

The timber treatment is easily applied and forms a waterproof skin on the wood. I have just erected the building so cannot comment on longevity. It is an expensive product.

Oct 29, 2018
This product was easy to use and covered well.We weren't keen on the colour initially, but after putting three coats on and after several months it seems to have settled down and is more oak coloured and less yellow. After several heavy rain storms it is repelling the water well. So far so good

Easy to apply used clear to keep the look of the wood as the quality was too good to hide with colour not the cheapest but you get what you pay for quality product
Mr. Trevor Kent
Oct 24, 2018
A really great product, not cheap, but as mentioned it's worth getting the best product suited to the job. Easy to apply, and being water based makes cleaning brushes after applying simple.
Geoff Taylor
Oct 23, 2018
Not cheap but appears to do the job very well. It goes a long way and is easy to apply, although a bit of organisation is required for the second coat, to ensure that all areas are covered since it is difficult to see areas you have applied the second coat.
Mr. Nigel Purcell-Herbert
Sep 11, 2018
I went along with the advice on the Tuin blog and bought dark green Carefree Protect to give my Ulrik log cabin at least 3 coats....I got 6 tins, nearly £500 (ouch!) but after 3 coats I have only used 2 1/2 tins. I over estimated as usual (ah well) but taking just under one 2.5L tin to coat a 3.8m x 3.8m cabin seemed unlikely and was unexpected.
It goes on easily, covers brilliantly and washes out with water... perfect. After 3 coats the cabin has a dense plastic-like covering and looks well protected, so this product appears to be as good as Tuin say it is. Time will tell of course.
With so much paint left over I may as well give the cabin a 4th coat, and store the rest indoors for a maintenance coat in a few years time. I can’t see any reason not to recommend Carefree Protect or give it 5 stars.
Mr. Fred Beadle
Sep 6, 2018
Although it is expensive it is easy to apply & goes a long way. Having purchased the clear version I was pleased to find that after two coats the colour of the wood was hardly altered at all. A Good Product.

Just completed my Peggie log cabin and given it 3 coats of Carefree Protectant. I have enough to give a fourth coat as well as a couple inside.
Very happy with the coverage although it does stay a little sticky for a day or two. It is more expensive than other products, but why spoil a ship for a ha'pworth of tar!

I ordered the pine colour treatment to treat our Klair log cabin and Sauna Barrel and the existing 2-year-old pine fence. The fence had 2 coats on the part completed so far (in the area of the new cabin), and I found it easy to apply, quick to dry, and a great water-repellant finish. I've used 4 coats on non-treated parts of the sauna - had to be careful with runs as it's so thin, and it did seem to be a bit sticky when dry, for a few days - had to be careful not to stack the treated pieces together.
I've used the white treatment on our stone fountain and it has come up beautifully. Even though it's thin, 2 coats has covered the old algae stains (I cleaned it first to get rid of live algae) whilst still showing the detailed relief. Very pleased with how smart it looks. Still got a 3rd coat to do but rain interfered - so far it's looking great and a final coat will hopefully mean that's the last time we have to do it. Feeling confident it will last and won't peel, from what we've seen so far.
Aug 16, 2018
We purchased the Grey Carefree paint for our excellent Emma cabin. The paint is expensive but it was great to apply. Four tins did exactly 2 coats which looked really good. I was going to try a cheaper product but on such a great quality product it worth spending a little more to protect it. I would recommend this product.
Al Russell
Aug 6, 2018
Fairly easy to put on but you need to be aware of the drops and splashes. If putting on in hot weather then it dries very quickly on the brush and roller. Still got another three coats to put on but it’s ok thus far.
Mr. Alan Weston
Jul 23, 2018
Very expensive but the best preservative paint I've ever used!
Mr. Valerio Del Vecchio
Jul 10, 2018
I was a little hesitant because of the premium price of this product however I have to say that it does - and pretty damn well - what is says on the thin.
Easy to paint, has great covering ability and with half 2.5L tub I did my 6 x 8 shed plus 2 gates (2 coats shed, 3 coats the gates) Lately I used it to prime cement base between paving flags before filling with resin bound aggregate.
I used the transparent one and it gives a nice glowing finish to the wood. Have since pressure washed my shed and water wicks away just like it was a car body.
If you're looking for a tough shield to protect your wood look no further.
Mrs. Susan Cartlidge

We decided to buy this product to protect the exterior of our Log cabin. In clear.
This product resembled painting on soapy water which was was weird.
However WOW! The affect is amazing. After each coat (3) the colour of the wood was more enhanced each time.
We treated the inside with Saddolin which was a little cheaper.
But it does not compare and the result is not noticeably as effective
This is one amazing product. And would recommend it to everybody, in fact I have done already .
Will be buying again.
Mr. Steve Drake
Jun 17, 2018
This is a great product, excellent coverage and easy to use. Will take a while to assess the protection but I am confident it will be good having seen the finish.

Ok - this is a review of your colourless Carefree product I have used on my Nora summer house.
Generally I found the product easy to use albeit that because it is colourless it was often difficult to see where the treatment had been applied - particularly after the first coat had been applied.
It was reassuring to see that the initial coat was easily absorbed by the timber.
As far as the physical application was concerned I did find that using a brush for detail and “hard to get to” areas the solution tended to foam. This was also noted when a roller was used on flat areas as the finish had a bubbled surface which, if not brushed out, would leave an orange peel pimples finish.
It seems to do its job in protecting the timber ( I’m leaving the timber “au natural” but time will tell!

I bought 10 litres of clear to paint a tannilised 4m by 3m stable - it just allowed for 2 external coats. Goes on very easily. It dries with a hybrid silk - matt finish and adds a light golden tone. Much better than I expected colour wise. Hopefully, it will wear as well as the claims - so far it looks promising.

Took about 4 coats but very happy with the result.

Timber Treatment doesn't say anything on the tin, obviously not enough space.
This gear is amazing goes on like water soaks in dry in minutes second coat sits on the surface and dries- its almost like liquid cling film, dries clear little colour change to the wood.
Yes its a little dearer than the usual crowd, but in application it feels better.
I will update in 10 years and let you know how it has performed.

Surely does what it says on the tin. The water like consistency of the product makes it very difficult to brush on without producing runs. Still, easy to apply and a little goes a long way. For my 4x4 cabin I purchased three tins of sealant and this was enough to give two fairly generous coats.

This paint seems really very good. It's expensive but goes on very well, covers well, gives a nice finish and brushes wash out in water. We will see what its like in 2 or 3 years time; hopefully it will still be good then.

Excellent product. Seals deep down into the wood. Supplies in 1 litre tins at no extra cost as 2.5 litre out of stock ( better for doing those awkward fiddley bits)

Bought the carefree protectant timber treatment for my log cabin in light oak colour .. great product ... coverage is as stated and covers quickly and easily... a bit more expensive than other treatments but worth the price... I would recommend and will use again in future

Really liked this product, easy to apply. We didn't know how much we would need so order 2 pots for our 3m square cabin. Should have ordered 4!

Excellent product. You do need to protect your floor from drips but the wood goes a lovely honey colour when treated and it is well protected from the rain. Very impressed. Would recommend.

I've found the ' carefree' timber treatment to be an excellent product and have bought this for my other sheds. Expensive but the best.

easy to use, quick clean up afterwards. It looks good. Too early to comment on effectiveness - ask me in 10 years

Luckily i was able to apply the first coat of Carefree before my cabin was constructed, which saved a bit of time.
The protectant goes on very easily, though on dull days it is hard to see what you have covered if you are using the "colourless" shade.
The real test of this product will come after a year or two of exposure to the British weather; maybe i should submit another review then.

Although this timber treatment is expensive it has been well worth the money. We bought a larch gazebo and it has really enriched the colour and brought out the grain etc and improved the finish. We have done a number of coats as we want the gazebo to last a long time and they have given it a feel a bit like as though it has been plastic coated, really smooth. Would definetely recommend this product, worth the extra money and work to protect your investment. When ordered it has come within 2-3 days. When the 2.5 litre tins were out of stock they sent 5 x 500ml tins but honoring the price of the larger more economical tins. I am sure there is cheaper options on the market but this is cutting edge and we can reaaly see the benefit.

On the Flow cabin we have so far used most of 2 x 2.5lt tins just on the outside for one coat. Note that it needs more than a shake a good stir is needed as some of it solidified and didn't mix well, which resulted in needing to go over an area a second time. Seems good you can still see the grain through but is patchy due to not being stirred no doubt it will even out with the next coats.

Purchased the Palma log cabin along with the Carefree Protectant Timber Treatment thru Tuin and have been extremely satisfied with every aspect of the the product, the delivery and customer service. There promptness of response to queries was fantastic and very informed and courteous staff. By my recommendation Tuin have received a new order from another family member for their own log cabin plus accessories like timber treatment...and I vey rarely recommend! A big 5*

Because we built the cabin late in the year I applied 2 coats of Carefree to the exterior straight away and it looks sound and waterproofed. This process was helped by the quick drying time

Carefree is a good wood preserver and easy to apply. However its cost is exhorbitant and presents very poor value at £30 a litre. Two litres was barely sufficient for one coat on my new Daniel log cabin. For the other coats I have used a wood preservative from Screwfix which looks and smells suspiciously like your Carefree product but a great deal cheaper at £18 for five litres. Have I been ripped off by your company? I believe so.
Tuin reply: Unfortunately the cost of carefree is expensive. However, it is proved as a very good preservative and treatment.

For the Daniel to be treated correctly we actually recommend 14 litres, two liters is a very poor amount for a proper, long lasting treatment.

We do though recommend several others such as Sikkens, Kingfisher and Sadolin should you require cheaper alternatives.

We do not recommend any other treatments if longevity is the key. We would be interested to know how your chosen treatment performs over a few years, please let us know.

I used 4 tins of 2.5l green carefree to paint my Chloe cabin. Went on easily, covers well, and dries quickly. Very pleased with the results. Hopefully It will last well for years to come.
