This treatment is brilliant, I can highly recommend it. Nothing that Tuin sell you as an extra is ever overpriced, this is exceptional value for money and so easy to apply. It is a thin treatment, almost like applying skimmed milk, but it dries to a tough finish and, for the amount it covers, it works out cheaper than using any of the competitors products by far. My advice would be order more than you think you need. We bought the Dellinger Log Cabin and two tins of Embadecor, we've actually already used three tins and have one spare for later in the year. The main reason for this is that we followed the advice to treat some wood before using it in the build, it makes life a lot easier and should give far greater protection. We have now applied two clear coats of Embadecor to our building and it finishes it beautifully, people cannot tell it has been treated it is so clear! Once finished I will share pictures of our cabin but, in the meantime, thank you Tuin for an excellent product and all your advice, ordering anything from you has been so easy and so efficient, we would gladly highly recommend you!

Embadecor timber stain is an excellent quality product, easy to use and to clean brushes being water based. The finishing effect on the cabin is a glorious deep rich enhancing glow of natural wood, being very pleasing on the eye.
I fully recommend customers to share this experience.

I painted my cabin with light pine coloured Embadecor, following a pre-treatment with Tuin impregnation fluid. The stain was easy to apply by brush, penetrating well, leaving a very pleasant, matt, warm yellow finish.

This product is excellent. It covers well and penetrates well, granted its a bit pricey but I believe its well worth spending the money as the protection for your new cabin is so important. I used the clear inside and the rustic oak on the outside and both are great. The oak has enough colour to give it character but not too much to become a colour as such.

Really easy to paint on. Loved the grey colour on the Karen log cabin 5x3.2m. Photo shows two coats - few more to go

I used two tins of the clear as a sealant coat. One coat on the inside and two coats on the outside fo a 5m*3m cabin. Easy to apply but the product is very watery so the upside down bits meant I had sealant running off the brush. A few splashes on the indow galss have needed some elbow grease to remove, but that's trivial. It was noticeable how much smoother the wood felt after application. It made a good base for the paint.
My tip for future use: Use in a well ventilated space and avoiding breathing the fumes, and drink lots of water. I got a headache and itchy skin when using it.

When you make a choice of having an expensive outbuilding, it would be wasteful to not treat it with some quality protection. The stain can be on the expensive side but it is well worth it. The colour i chose of the Chestnut gives my cabin that destinctive cabin look which will be protected for many years. Overall, a good choice of stain!

Bought a large shed from Tuin to use as a studio and decided on Embadecor Clear stain to protect the finish of the wood. So far I am very happy with the product. It was easy to apply and has not changed the colour of the wood.
I still need to apply another coat when the weather allows.

Robust tins that opened easily and sealed easy when close.
A lovely product that went on very well by brush leaving the subtle colour I wanted.
We did 3 coats and it looks brilliant, the odour was low and we started using the painted building immediately.
Would I use it again, yes, it is now my go to first choice.

This stain does what it says on the tin (although it’s not in English). Had to look up the information on the Tuin website. I originally purchased 2 tins which covered my Lory cabin. Soon found that I needed 2 more to finish. Ordered and arrived within 3 days of dispatch. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

The stain is amazing, although it looks very thin in the tin you can see it soaking into the the wood as you paint it on and it goes a long way. First coats use more stain than 2nd or 3rd but it really penetrates the wood and gives a flawless finish without too much effort. Yes, it is pricey but very much a case of you get what you pay for. Would highly recommend.

Once I had completed the building of my Shannon Log Cabin I found that the natural look of the logs inside was so good that I changed my mind about the wood stain and went for the natural look. The tins of clear 'stain' arrived promptly with the added bonus of being in a sale.

After being in builders merchants supplying trade for nearly fifty years none better thank you .

I bought some of these for my recently installed Tuin cabin.
Now, it's not cheap, but it does work well. It goes on VERY easily, more like an oil than a paint, so much quicker to apply than I thought. I managed to cover my 4.5x2.5m Maria Cabin in half a day without much of an issue, except possibly around the windows, as an oil it does drip on the windows much more than a paint would. It wipes off easily when its still wet though.
The colour I bought was a bit more yellow than I thought it would be, I went for light pine, but hopefully that will tone down with a few months of winter weather.

Wonderful timber stain. Ordered the light oak and the colour is perfect, a lovely medium oak not too orange. The stain goes on great and I can see that this will give a good level of protection for the log cabin. It is a quality product. The customer service as always from Tuin was great and delivery of the stain was prompt. Any extra left over will be used to protect my garden sleepers and children’s climbing frame.

I purchased the small corner log cabin from Tuin earlier this year. The cabin certainly did not disappoint, it is fantastic in both quality, style and customer service. The delivery driver was also wonderful, friendly and professional. I followed the advice by Tuin and ordered their suggested products in order to seal and protect it too. It is a bit more expensive than some of your regular sealants but if you are spending that much on a cabin you need to look after it and you get what you pay for with some things. The sealant product was easy to use and then I followed this up with their recommended paint. I’ve applied several coats but that was my choice as I want to take the time to protect my shed and I had ample paint to do so. All round I would highly recommend Tuin and all of their products. A big thank you to all at Tuin.

I used the Chestnut to treat a Shannon log cabin exterior (interior was treated in clear).

It's very thin, almost watery, goes on really easily using a normal gloss/matt paintbrush.
Don't use a 'fence paint' brush, it's too thin for those.

It soaks into the wood and pretty much travels to the edge of the piece itself, with only a little encouragement.

The colour looked really odd after the first coat, but came up perfect after the second coat. Further coats didn't make much difference to the colour.

Be careful about drips, have to catch them pretty quickly or they do leave obvious dark marks that need a light sand and recoat to remove.

Coverage is better than expected. First coat used ~3/4 tin as it soaked in deeply, the final three coats only used a tin and a half.

Goes on like water, nice and easy, cover a large space in no time, going to need 3 coats to get right finish, hopefully it lasts as long as it states.

Stain was easy to apply by brush and spray. Colour was matched as advertised and the final effect was as desired with wood knots etc. still visible through stain. 2 tins = 2 coats on outside only with 1/4 of a tin left for touch up, will see how 2 coats performs.

I purchased 4 tins of the Walnut Embedecor stain this was to stain my newly purchased Daniel Cabin the product is well sealed but a bit of a nightmare to get the lid of which took several attempts to remove the stain is very thin and gives very good coverage and gives a very nice finish the biggest issue is the length of time it takes to dry around 24 hrs I gave all the timbers including the tongue and groove at least two coats then assembled the cabin I would highly recommend doing this as the timber have not moved or expanded one little bit I am really happy about this also once one coat is applied the next coat goes on really easy would recommend this product having to order two at one time is a pain as we have used nearly all of ours but we want one tin for future upkeep of our cabin.

We used the Embadecor walnut stain on the outside of our Britt log cabin and the clear stain on the inside, over which I used a whitewash paint. So easy to paint on and a little goes a long way. We used 1.5 tins (two coats) on the outside and half a tin (one coat) on the inside. It is expensive but we want our log cabin to last as long as possible so worth the money. I actually found the painting very therapeutic!

Bought three tins of clear to apply four coats to my 3m x 3m redwood corner summer house. Very easy to apply with a faint grey sheen visible after several coats. Water beads on surface and quickly runs off. Very happy with product and appreciated Tuin’s Advisory blog.

I purchased 5 cans of Rustic Oak Timber stain for my Daisy log cabin. I have used four cans to cover the outside 3 times and the inside twice. Although it is very expensive, I am pleased with the results. It is easy to apply and really shows off the grain.

Great wood stain. Applied to Tuin cabin and went on well. 1 tin did one and a half coats on a 3 by 3.5m cabin.

Oct 12, 2018
Very easy to use& has a distinctive odour, with each extra coat you see the build up of the protection. Log ends & joints soak up quite an amount & if proof is needed how it soaks into the wood we have a few places where the stain has come through to the inside of the summerhouse (mainly in knot areas). I will most likely use the Tuin paint for the inside of the doors & windows.

I used the Embadecor clear stain on a Tuin log cabin. It's pretty easy to work with and goes on well. I can't really say what a coloured stain would look like and how even it would be but the clear one dried easily and once three or four coats were on I could see the rain falling off the wood.

It's a solvent based stain so make sure you've got the white spirit for brush cleaning afterwards.

I bought the silver/grey , so far have completed 2coats and intend to do 4 on the cabin.
It seems ideal if you want the natural wood showing with a hint of colour, and of course the protection of the wood.

Used this before applying the blue Prussian Embalan paint. Difficult to apply as is clear and dries almost immediately so difficult to spot where hasn't been treated. Doesn't have the wow effect as the Embalan paint but its an undercoat so don't get too attached. Decided to go for the Embadecor and Embalan mix as although the carefree protect gets raving reviews, based on Richards experiments he claims that this mix is just as good, especially when there is £500 difference between the two... Word of caution, try and protect the windows, smudges and difficult to remove once splashed on them.

I ordered the Embadecor timber stain from Tuin – this seemed extremely expensive but I felt their advice had been so good I would try it for the first coats. Although it seemed very thin it has covered very well and four small (2.5 ltr.) tins have covered the entire outside of the shed twice and the window and door frames inside as well; it also seems very weatherproof. I have also been very happy with the choice of colour – rustic oak – which has brought out the grain/knots attractively.

Covers the wood well but does drip unless you take the excess off. Used about one and a half cans for the first
coat so was a bit worried that we would not have enough. Additional coats used three quarters of a can so all good. A bit pricy but very easy to apply and gives a nice finish so worth it.

We used they grey stain as a sealant and undercoat before applying the Prussian Blue Embalan timber paint as advised. This is quite thin and goes on easily with roller and brush in between logs. First coat soaked in well but could hardly tell it was there, second coat left quite a nice grey colour and we could still see all the grain of the wood; it was tempting to leave it like that but we carried on with 2 coats the Prussian Blue paint and are delighted with the results. The paint doesn't go quite as far as the manufacturers claim so make sure you order plenty. Although the minimum online order is 2 of anything I contacted Tuin and they were most helpful and able to make up an order with one extra pot of each. John

Quite expensive - I had to order some more. The theoretical coverage is nothing like, the end grain drinks it and by the time you've gone round the doors and all the trim parts its time to reorder.
Glad I bought this though I'm sure it'll protect the cabin well and its best not to skimp for the sake of a few quid. Nice colour too (Rustic Oak) - 3 coats recommended, its easy to do once the cabin has drank the first coat. Fantastic delivery time from Tuin too!

Looks amazing. I think you really need something on the wood if not just to reduce the glare!

Now I spent ages looking at different treatments for the internals of my cabin-and I mean ages. There are so many products out there on the market, and unless you're in the trade it can be hard to establish whats good value and what is needed.I eventually plumped for the Embadecor stain and I'm really pleased that I did. I wanted to keep the cabin finish as "natural" as possible, and I was only looking to treat the wood rather than stain it. This stuff is great, as it highlights all of the knots and features in the wood so wonderfully. It's subtle, but that's exactly what I wanted. Initially I was using a 1" brush to apply, but then I opted for a 3" brush and applied lightly at a much faster speed without and dripping or runs etc. I've applied three coats to the inside which looks really good, safe in the knowledge that I purchased the right stuff. Don't be tempted by Cuprinol or similar, it's just not right for a timber cabin. It's not cheap, but worth every penny in my opinion.

I had the crazy idea of staining the office in Black and was going to do this until I tried the stain on one side of the tongue and groove floor pieces. The plan was to lay these face down to the insulation for extra moisture protection. The black stain unfortunately travelled through knots in the wood & showed on the untreated side so I had to paint both sides in the end. I didn't treat the walls at all in the Black after this fearing it may track through to the internal walls. The product looks great on my floor boards but I've not touched the walls with it. I've now got 5 2.5 litre cans of black to re-sell!
Tuin reply: Thank you for our review, we do recommend a knotting agent before applying a colour as you would with your house joinery to avoid bleed of any knots, this will normally stop any transfer of colour.

If you have unused tins you can return them for a full refund should you wish to.

I chose to stain my Summertime cabin with light pine Embadecor. It was easy to apply and gave the building a lovely, warm glowing, golden yellow appearance. Weatherproofing so far appears to be very good too.

Excellent company to deal with from start to finish. Bought the Wigan cabin, over the moon with it. I did not receive the full amount of roof tiles, contacted the out of hours email and it was sent out the following day. The stain is top notch but you do need alot of it, it's top stuff tho. I used a dark chestnut for the exterior and rustic oak for interior. Looks excellent. Will be buying annually and staining to protect my investment. Only choose Tuin when buying your log cabin. I did my research and they are the best. Thanks guys. Mr R Lyness
