We highly recommend shingles with your log cabin: The final finish is far more superior and turns a shed into a stunning log cabin. Ordinary felt will last two - three years. Shingles will last for at least 15 years and it is unlikely you will ever need to replace them.

The whole project has been a great success. The delivery driver could not have been more helpful and manoevred the pallet to exactly where I wanted it which was not easy. I had originally built a timber sub-frame along the lines of the excellent blog on the website. Two of us erected the cabin including roof timbers over one weekend. Some of the longer timbers had twisted slightly y(not surprising) and we had to ease them in with the aid of some clamps but 99% of the timbers fitted with little trouble. We noted how vital it was that the timber base was exactly (and I mean exactly!) the right size and level. Because of that it went up with relative ease. I insulated the roof during the week and two of us got the shingles on the following weekend. So 4 man-days to watertight. I sought a few bits of advice from the tuin helpchat and got sound and valuable advice within minutes on every occasion. We bought the wooden floorboards and that went down extremely well. It's still a work in progress but it's still fun! Dealing with Tuin has been an absolute pleasure and their product has surpassed my expectations. If only all companies were like Tuin!
