Garden Shed Base Construction
A solid base is one of the most important factors for ensuring the longevity and stability of your garden shed, storage building, or any other outdoor structure. A flat, level, and properly prepared base provides the foundation your building needs to perform as intended for years to come.
Bases can be made from a variety of materials, including concrete, timber, or paving stones. However, any base for our sheds and storage buildings should meet the following criteria:
Most of the building’s weight will be supported along the perimeter, so the base must account for this.
The overall weight of the cabin matters — a 19mm structure behaves very differently to a 70mm one.
The base must be completely level in all directions.
Ideally, the base should be square.
The base should extend slightly beyond the footprint of the building for optimal support.
