When treated correctly, oak can last for 20 to 25 years, earning it a durability classification of 2. This makes it a great choice for various projects like fences, wall cladding, tables, and even roofs. Left untreated, the wood will naturally age to a beautiful silver-gray color. Each plank has a unique and rugged appearance due to its coarse grain and prominent flame pattern.
Keep in mind that oak contains tannic acid, which can stain nearby surfaces. To prevent dark marks, you should always use stainless steel fasteners. Also, be careful when installing it over light-colored paving or concrete, as rain can cause the wood to bleed and leave stains.
