Lynn Log Cabin

An octagonal log cabin in 45mm interlocking wall logs with double glazing, the Lynn measures 4.27 x 4.27m. The perfect sewing or craft room with double doors and extensive glazing in four sides.

Available in a log thickness of 45mm, the elegant octagonal Lynn Log Cabin features a stunning high pitched octagonal roof. Whilst the octagonal shape adds charm, extensive fixed georgian glazing in four of the eight sides creates a light and airy feel - perfect as a sewing, craft or hobby room.

The Lynn will look outstanding in any outdoor space. Combine with optional coloured felt roof shingles and a metal finial for the perfect finishing touch! Constructed using quality interlocking Spruce logs, all timber is specially selected to conform to strict Dutch standards. These standards do not allow different timbers to be mixed or finger jointing to be present within any Tuin log cabin.

All Tuin log cabins are supplied untreated and will require treatment as soon as they have been installed. Tuin offers a great range of treatment options including paints, stains and impregnation fluid - all of which can be purchased alongside your log cabin. We also recommend insulating your Log Cabin after treating your cabin.

The Lynn Log Cabin features as standard:

  • 45mm interlocking wall logs

  • Double conical tongue and groove for stability

  • Double door

  • Stainless steel doorstep

  • Two opening Georgian windows

  • Two fixed Georgian windows

  • Quality door and window fittings

  • Double glazing

  • Fixing kit and instruction manual

  • Minimum 16mm Tongue and Groove Roof Boards

Dimensions:

  • Overall Dimensions: 4.27x4.27

  • Internal Dimensions: Refer to plan.

  • Ridge Height: 3.06m

  • Door Height (including frame): 1.90m

  • Overhang: 0.20m / 0.30m

We highly recommend shingles with your log cabin: The final finish is far more superior and turns a shed into a stunning log cabin. Ordinary felt will last two - three years. Shingles will last for at least 15 years and it is unlikely you will ever need to replace them.

Really pleased with our Lynn Log Cabin / summerhouse. It feels really solid, being made from thick timber rather than the sort of flimsy over-priced shed you can buy for three times as much from a competitor. I also managed to build it all on my own with no help whatsoever - probably ill advised given the weight in some of the components (windows and - surprisingly - roof shingles!). Delivery was spot on. The friendly helpful driver kept me informed throughout the process, and had a lot to contend with on the actual day - bringing the timber in from some distance away during the school run on bin day!! Pre-delivery, I put a lot of work into constructing a (probably over-engineered) level base (9 inches of crushed rock / weed control membrane / paving slabs), which made building the actual summerhouse pretty straightforward. I actually managed to get the walls up in one evening! This part is pretty easy, but do be careful though as it's very easy to put a "log" in upside down if your attention wanders! The roof took most of the build time. The support beams went up in less than two hours (that would have been easier with 2 people!), but the planks took ages as they all needed cutting at an angle (investment in a powered mitre saw is highly recommended!) with it being an octagonal building. No way round that - it's just how it is! Likewise the felt shingles took ages, probably because I used way more tacks than were needed. I also did the ridges with stainless steel screws and penny washers rather than tacks to get a more robust fitting (my choice!). Time consuming, but very easy and with an end result that looks really really good. Oh and I had some felt trays left over from another project, so I used them at the edges. Unnecessary but gets a good finish. The extra money I paid for the internal floor was money well spent - the floorboards are really thick and rigid, and slot together easily. I can see that lasting for many years, especially as I put a thick plastic membrane underneath this for good measure. Putting it together took me a couple of evenings, but that was because I chose to use "tongue tite" floorboard screws rather than the supplied nails so I have the option of lifting them if I ever need to. I even had a few packs of floorboards left over (Tuin do seem very generous with their quantities), some of which I re-purposed to make eaves (I wanted bigger / stronger ones than those supplied so I can fit guttering). Again, a power saw is highly recommended for speed and accuracy. So all in all I'm very happy, and will be back to Tuin when my I need to replace my rotting garden shed. Their website contains lots of useful advice and videos if you need clarification on anything. Honestly nothing to not like!

We found Tuin as a company very easy to deal with although the only criticism we had was not being able to speak over the phone as it was always an answering machine you got and we found they never got back to you apart from emails, (maybe pandemic related as in lockdown at this time). HOWEVER From day 1 when the cabin arrived by a very skilled delivery driver who managed to get the kit into our garage we knew we had made the right choice as the cabin was very well packed. After opening up to check contents we found everything to be in order and all wood dry and glass intact. As being an electrician I was a bit dubious at first to erect the kit myself but found it easy on getting the walls, windows and doors up to roof height. Forming the roof took longer as once the beams were up and to make the kit watertight the packs of tongue and groove boards had to be cut individually to marry them up with the next section of roof. Once completed it was then onto the finishings and fitting the free shingles provided. I found we were a few shingles short but Tuin supplied another full pack when contacted at no extra cost. All in all we have recommended Tuin to other friends as the quality of cabin supplied was excellent and over one winter and half way through another we have had no water ingress whatsoever. We sealed the cabin when finished with a clear water repellant stain but will probably paint it in the spring. This cabin is an excellent size as we have been able to furnish it with rattan furniture which consisted of two 3 seater couches, 2 chairs, a footstool and coffee table and sat 10 adults comfortably. All in all an excellent addition to our garden and looking forward to many years of enjoyment.
