When it does return, you need to be prepared for the hot sunny days where a shelter will be beneficial for your comfort and health. With this post, you will find inspiration for your own gardening shade area, which is perfect for outdoor dining or keeping the kids cool.

This post will also go in order depending on your DIY skills. So that the sun shade with the least DIY skills needed will be posted first and the one that requires the most skills will be last on the list.

How to make shade in your Garden

First, let’s look at what can make your garden space more shaded. Remember that the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, so knowing where your garden stands in its proximity is a good place to start planning your shade.

A natural option for shading would be by strategically planting trees and large shrubs. Position them on the western or southern sides of your garden to maximize shade during the hottest parts of the day.

If you own a Gazebo or Pergola of ours, you have a great addition to your garden’s shaded areas. If not, let’s take a look at the other Garden Shade options available.
