The 34mm Hans Log Cabin measuring 4.0 x 3.4m. Featuring a distinguishing dual pent roof combined with four fixed high level windows. Ideal as garden storage or as a contemporary summerhouse.
Limited FREE roof Shingles offer

An intriguing design, focus is drawn to the dual pent roof - here you will find four fixed high level windows. A modern take on garden storage, open the double doors to place tools and other garden equipment inside for safe keeping.

All timber used is slow grown Spruce for a tight wood grain and the Dutch recognise that this creates a stable, durable and long lasting garden building. For the highest quality building, the timber is also specially selected for the interlocking construction and will not feature a mixture of timber species or finger jointing.

Supplied as untreated logs, the Hans will require treatment as soon as it has been installed. A log cabin may be treated using a variety of methods including impregnation fluid, stains or paint - all of which are available to purchase alongside your log cabin!
The Hans Log Cabin features as standard:

Roof Covering Important: This cabin is offered with free shingles the same as all our other cabins. BUT this roof has a very slight pitch and shingles are NOT recommended on their own. If you require shingles you will need to add an under layer of felt and use shingle glue extensively. We cannot guarantee the roof when shingles are used.
If shingles are not ordered roof felt is sent. EPDM roofing material or Easy Roof Membrane is highly recommended for use with all flat roof buildings for longevity in excess of ten years.
If shingles are not ordered roof felt is sent. NOTE: If EPDM or ERM are ordered - FELT or SHINGLES are NOT sent.

Short story: very happy indeed. Looks fantastic. Timber v high quality.

Long story: Pre and post support exceptional - it took us a while to decide on this particular model, and on the way we had lots of questions that were all responded to rapidly, accurately and helpfully.

Finally decided on Hans - area was what we needed and attracted by the height and the top window. The height is double-edged: lots of nice height inside, but makes the build a bit more challenging.

Delivery was great: demountable forklift used to negotiate a horrid tight and very steep turn; glad it was only after safe delivery that the driver told us there was no brakes on the forklift!

Took us a couple of hours to unpack and organise into a garage. I had previously built a timber-frame base. The build took us (4 of us including 10 and 15 year old) a day to get walls and roof beams in. At least an hour of that was taken up trying to work out how to get the top window up - it comes in a single, pretty heavy piece that was quite tricky to lift. One snag was that the pre-cut sloping walls didn't quite match the beam on top of the window, or the roof beams - ended up planing the walls to fit.

Another full day to get the roof boarded - I stupidly started boarding on the front roof so that the grooves were uppermost - didn't matter as I was using EPDM on that part, and boarded the other way on the back roof where we used shingles (which makes the inside look nicer and has a flatter surface for the shingles).

Another full day to get the shingles on and barge boards onto the back roof, and another half-day to get the EPDM onto the front.

An hour to fit and align the doors. Not yet fitted the floor - which I was a bit surprised to see isn't grooved.

The supplied instructions are a bit rubbish - ended up looking at a website picture to work out the expected edging to the roof and the barge-boards, for example. Could learn a lot from lego, or just provide more close-ups of the expected finished result. Having said that, most is OK from the (simple) plans provided.

Location - we've put ours into a corner of the garden - looks great but access has been a pain - my fault and has added time to the build.

I've had lots of experience doing DIY, making bits of furniture, but this has been a significantly hard process - largely through overall height - I've never been fond of ladders - make sure you've several decent ones. And get on the roof as soon as possible - I found myself avoiding it until inevitable which I think added time.

I've lots of pictures - if you want more details feel free to get in touch at w.d.solomon at btinternet.com
