One of the most important parts of the build installation is a the base. To ensure they have the long life span as intended a flat and level base is required for any building. A base can be pretty much made out of anything: concrete, timber, paving stones. But, any base provided for any log cabin has to follow this criteria:
For more details, please read Base Requirements for Log Cabins.
For all year round use, insulating your log cabin is important to consider. Insulation will help your cabin stay warmer in the winter, and cooler during the summer heatwaves. Essential for keeping heating and electric costs lower in your cabin.
While we don’t sell pre-insulated kits, we do sell Log Cabin Insulation Packs. These kits will give you all the supplies needed for insulating both your log cabin floor and roof.
Perhaps your home is just a bit too overcrowded currently? A Log cabin could be the solution for that little bit of extra space you need, an extension of your home if you will. Ideal for a range of uses, find the size most appropriate for your garden, and take advantage of the extra room your timber log cabin provides.
Our Log Cabins will make for a great space to relax in any UK Garden. Not only that, but their presence really stands out and completes the look of plenty of gardenscapes, which you can decorate to really make your own.
Log Cabins provide an excellent storage solution for your home and a good answer to reorganising and providing extra space. Not only can they be used to home outdoor and garden items, but become an extension of your indoor spaces, whether that be for leisure, or a separate space for work.
Our Log Cabins can have a variety of purposes for a UK Garden. The thickness of the logs give an indication of their appropriate usage. Please see examples below:
19mm Thick Logs - This is a shed, ideal for storage and sturdier than traditional panel construction.
28mm Thick Logs - These are a great all rounder and lend themselves to a perfect summer house for occasional use. However, with modifications they can be perfect for all year around use. Generally though, we would recommend you opt for a thicker log for more thermal capacity for all year around use.
34 - 45mm Thick Logs - More appropriate for annual usage. This range is a good balance between heat costs and budget costs of the actual log cabin. Regardless, you will need to add insulation to the roof along with the floor for optimal year-round use. See all of our 40mm Log Cabins and 45mm Log Cabins
58mm thick logs - A very strong and sturdy building with high thermal capacity. This is the thickness if you are looking for reliable annual usage without being too large. Floor and roof insulation will be needed.
70mm thick logs - This is the best size for full time accommodation. This is a serious cabin for housing purposes, but at this level you may encounter problems with building regulations and planning permission. Please contact us for our advice. Anything above the Edelweiss Log Cabin may cause you problems with planning and regulations.
